Record Breaker
Two years before, Blake was the CAC Junior champion, running 10.33 seconds in Trinidad. In the following season, he set the national junior record of 10.11 at the Carifta Games held in Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Blake, 17, poses after stopping the clock in a scintillating, record-breaking time of 10.11 seconds at the CARIFTA Games in the Turks and Caicos. He broke Raymond Stewart's 10.19 seconds, which stood for 23 years as the national junior 100-metre record.

Injured
Hampered by injury, his season best in 2008 was 10.27. His best over the 200m that year was 21.06. So when he arrived at Coach Glen Mills Racers Track Club, he first had to heal his mind and body before he could be fixed. (Pictured) Blake participates in the 4x400Metre heats at 2007 Gibson Relays.

On Track
On May 17, 2009, Blake became the youngest man ever to break the 10-second barrier with a 9.93 run in Paris. Further improvements came in 2010 when Blake ran personal bests of 9.89 and 19.78 over the 100m and 200m, respectively.

Moving Up
In 2010 Blake cemented his place among the very best in the world with a powerful 19.78 seconds run in the 200m at the 10th Samsung Diamond League meet in Monaco. The run meant that, in terms of Jamaican sprinters, he was only second to training partner Usain Bolt's world record-clocking of 19.19 over the distance.

World Champ

YB Cares
The YB Afraid Foundation, established by world sprinter Yohan Blake, joined with the Jamaica Information Service in adopting the Mount Olivet Boys' Home in Walderston, Manchester. Here Blake distributes donations to the boys at the home. The donations were from Adidas - one of Yohan’s major sponsors.

Upsetter
Blake delivered an upset at the men's 100m final at the JAAA/SVL Jamaica Senior National Championships when he beat Usain Bolt. He clocked a National Stadium record of 9.75 seconds. Bolt ran a time of 9.86 seconds.

In the 100 metre finals at the London Olympic Games Blake equaled his personal best of 9.75 to finish second behind Bolt.

Watch it
After his scintillating run in the 200m semi-final reports surfaced that Blake, could be fined by the International Olympic Committee for wearing a custom-made Richard Mille tourbillon watch (pictured) valued at US$500,000, which contravened strict branding guidelines. Athletes were only permitted to wear Omega watches, the official ‘timepiece’ of the Games.

One, Two, Three
Blake was also part of the 1-2-3 win pulled off by all three Jamaican athletes in the 200m finals in London. He placed second behind Usain Bolt and before the new kid on the block Warren Weir.

Blake was also a part of the record shattering 4x100m relay team that won gold in world record time of 36.84 seconds breaking their record of 37.04 set in Daegu in 2011.
