One of the events that everyone will be looking forward to during tomorrow’s Independence Day celebrations is the Grand Gala. The event, taking place at the National Stadium, is a huge, colourful affair, featuring costume parades, performance groups, top local artistes and more, including a fireworks display. Those lucky enough to snag tickets to watch the event live are certainly in for a treat, but don’t worry if you couldn’t get tickets: Grand Gala will be televised. And to make it even better, there will be a free viewing party at the Independence Village, Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, at 6PM.

Can you imagine what it would be like to be asked to share your talents on the Grand Gala stage? Gabrielle Miller knows what it is like, having performed in the 2012 and 2013 shows. The Company Dance Theatre member shared this with us:

Being part of the Jamaica 50 celebrations was a proud moment for me. Seeing where my country had come from, and the potential it has for the future all resonated with me especially that year. Working with the other dance groups and companies was also a lot of fun. There aren’t very many events that allow for that so the ones that do usually stand out.
