The total number of cruise ship passengers to arrive on the island in December 2013 was 160,076 which represented a 9.6% increase over the 146,050 for December 2012 and a 4% increase over the 153,561 recorded in December 2011. The number of cruise passengers to arrive in December represented a 62% increase when compared to November 2013 99,000.
179,105 passengers or 89% of the 201,347 total stopovers were foreign nationals and their average length of stay in the country based on all types of accommodations was 10 nights and 7 nights for hotel stay.
The industry is categorized by two seasons Winter and Summer, the Winter season is usually the better of the two. The positive numbers recorded for December are indicative of that.
