Summer Fun: Free and Paid Events


Scorching temperatures signal the arrival of summer. Get out of the house and into some fun with digJamaica’s eclectic list of paid and free events happening this summer.


Last Sundays – For art-lovers- Held every last Sunday at the National Gallery of Jamaica, this event offers an unparalleled  cultural experience as attendees gain free admission and tours of the works of  featured artists. Past events also included other attractions such as performances by Black as Cole and book launches. Click here for additional details.

Bookophila’s Storytime– For the kids – This event is a great way to get the kids out of the house to do something educational. Held every Saturday at Bookophilia at 1 pm, stop by this weekend for a fun afternoon of reading. For the creative souls, Bookophilia also frequently hosts an open mic event. MVP Fridays– For the partygoer – This party series is a fantastic way to kick back with friends on a Friday night. Past stagings featured performances by Aidonia, Chi Ching Ching and Twins of Twins. As the summer rolls on, there’s sure to be other performances and great vibes each and every Friday at the Pulse Complex. The Night MKT– For the foodies- A pop-up kitchen with a scenic setting, The Night MKT will be held at Hope Gardens on August 22nd from 6pm to midnight. Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show– For the agriculturalist- Celebrating its 63rd show from July 31st– August 2nd, 2015, Denbigh is a highly celebrated event. Come out to the Denbigh Showground in May Pen, Clarendon to see agricultural displays around this year’s theme “Making Agriculture Sustainable”. The Denbigh Gospel Extravaganza on August 2nd will have performances by Kevin Downswell and Carlene Davis amongst others.  Click here for additional information.

SPF Weekend “Summer Playground Fantasy”-For the 21 & over crowd- The popular summer party series is back this year with events at Dunn’s River Falls, Jewel Water Park and Pearly Beach West.
