We’re heading to St Elizabeth this Travel Tuesday – Treasure Beach, to be exact.
‘Treasure’ is the generic name given to four coves – Billy’s Bay, Frenchman’s Bay, Calabash Bay, and Great Pedro Bay – that stretch for several miles south of Starve Gut Bay in St Elizabeth.
The small seaside village – voted the Best Community in Jamaica for 2012, is popular with locals looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, as well as overseas visitors looking for a ‘true’ Jamaican experience, outside of the traditional tourist hotspots.
The most popular spot in Treasure Beach is Jakes Hotel, known as the ‘chicest shack’ of all times. The property features several types of accommodations, including cottages, villas and a historic country home. All are designed to fit seamlessly into the landscape and feature stunning ocean views. The resort offers guests a unique Jamaican holiday, which allows them to integrate with the Treasure Beach community and to learn about the local lifestyle and customs.
