The country’s tourist arrivals is expected to receive a boost with the inaugural staging of an exciting new music event Soul in the Sun Music Festival set to take place in the second city, Montego Bay, October 10 – 12, 2014.
The event will feature top R&B and soul artistes including Keith Sweat, Jeffrey Osborne, Howard Hewitt, Peobo Bryson, Regina Bell, Johnny Gill, Dru Hill and Silk.
Soul in the Sun Music Festival is fully endorsed by Paul Pennicook, Director of Tourism as he made known at the recent launch of the event, that took place September 24, 2014 at The Deck in Kingston.
The event’s executive director Junior Taylor has noted that not only are ‘the economic benefits from the staging of the event countless, but the event is expected to attract visitors to the island in the month of October, when there is usually a valley in the statistics, and that it will do good for the city of Montego Bay.’
According to statistics from the Jamaica Tourist Board 123,663 tourists arrived at our international airports in October 2013 and 111,253 in 2012.
