Industry Update: Summer Tourist Season Ends – Best October In Years

Cruise Ship Arrivals

In total 1,006,192 passengers visited the Island in the 2013 January to October period, 6% decline below the corresponding period in 2012.

Arrivals for October 2013, 89,896 passengers was 26,672 more than September 2013. October’s cruise ship arrivals rose 29%  above the arrivals for October 2012 and recorded 5,008 passengers more than October 2011.

With 438,120 passengers for the Summer 2013 May to October period, cruise passengers visiting the island fell by 6% when compared to 464,493 in 2012.

Long Stay Arrivals

For the January to October 2013 period 1,952 more passengers visited the Island via an aircraft when compared to the same period in 2012, 0.2% increase.

In total for October 123,663 visitors arrived via an aircraft which was 18, 237 passengers more than the number of passengers that arrived using the same mode of transportation in September 2013. October 2013 long stay arrivals was 12,410 passengers or 11.2% more than October 2012 and 10% more than October 2011.

With 946,346 passengers for the Summer 2013 May to October period, arrivals to the island increased by 11% when compared to 920,348 in 2012.

Overall Arrivals

October marks the end of the Summer Tourist Season. The overall total number of arrivals for the 2013 January to October period was 2,664,742 representing a 2% decline below the 2,729,326 recorded for the corresponding period in 2012.

However October’s overall number of visitors 213,559 represented a 18% increase over the number of visitors for the same period in 2012 and an 8% increase when compared to the 197,424 in 2012.

The overall arrivals for October 2013 was one of the best in years.
