This week’s image is related to the Wednesday Gleaner story entitled Tessanne On Final Stretch. As local songbird Tessanne Chin homes in on the top prize in the Emmy Award-winning American talent show The Voice, Jamaicans at yard and abroad have been organising Twitter watch parties to drum up voting support. In this photo, supporters strikes a pose at a watch party at the Grand Cafe in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
Fans have been quite vocal on social media sites Facebook and Twitter, especially the latter, where fans aim to get her name trending worldwide each week. Last week, the hashtag #TeamTessanne was used to great effect as the combination of her stunning performance and fans’ ardent campaigning propelled her rendition of Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ to the top of the iTunes singles chart, where it remained long after voting ended at 11am.
The fifth season of the competition comes to a close next Tuesday, with Tessanne competing against her Adam Levine-coached teammate Will Champlin and Christina Aguilera’s Jacquie Lee for the title.
