If you’ve ever wondered why many Jamaicans refer to the $100 bill as a ‘dollar,’ you need look no further than the current exchange rate. The value of the local dollar continues to slide and currently rests at $99.78. Perhaps the only surprise for most Jamaicans is that it seems to be closing yet another week just shy of the psychological $100 barrier. Let’s watch and see if this lasts into next week.
