#FBF – The JLP’s First Election Win (1944)

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) last night secured its eighth term as the government with a close 33-30 margin over the People’s National Party (PNP). The party’s first victory was in 1944, the same year Jamaica was granted universal adult suffrage. The election took place on December 12.
