Organized horse riding in Jamaica falls under the purview of the Equestrian Federation of Jamaica (EFJ). The EFJ was formed in March 1996. Its goal is to provide training to all level of riders, to promote various disciplines of the equestrian sports of Jumping, Dressage, and Eventing.

The EFJ is a member of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI). With their support, the association offers clinics with coaches from all over the world.  Top challenge Jamaican riders participate in events on a regional and international level.  Additionally, a local grand prix, sponsored by Hi-Pro, is held each year.

Events on the island are held at:
  • the Kingston Polo Club at Caymanas,
  • the St. Ann Polo Club at Drax Hall, and
  • the Half Moon Hotel in Montego Bay
