St Andrew High School has only one Champs victory, but it has made regular appearances in the top 10 and top five. Here are some facts:
- Vilma Charlton was the architect of the school’s 1962 Girls’ Champs victory, scoring 10 points from the 100m/200m class 2 sprint double. The following year, in class 1, she again took the double, equalling the 220 yards record of 26.1 seconds.
- Janet Burke erased Merlene Ottey‘s class 1 100m record in 1981, clocking 11.4 seconds. She also equalled Ottey’s 200m mark of 23.6 seconds.
- The school placed fourth in the 2003 edition of Champs, behind Holmwood Technical, St Jago and Vere Technical.
