Billiards dominates the roadside bars, HQs, and pool halls of Jamaica. In its various forms—pool, skittles, billiards proper, snooker—it is equaled only perhaps by dominoes in its popularity.

Because much of the play occurs at a casual or amateur level, a governing body has only been recently formed. The Jamaica Billiards Association (JBA) oversees the play of the sport on the island.  There is also an unconnected Jamaica Skittles Federation, responsible for the play of that variation of the sport.
The JBA headquarters are at the Hot Shots Pool Bar on Constant Spring Road in Kingston.  There are 19 JBA sponsored tournaments in 2011, including a national championship in 8-ball pool. The association is currently trying to field a team for the world championships.
