Jamaica Badminton Association (JBA), founded in 1937, is the organizing body of badminton on the island. The sport is played from the primary school to international level with 8 tournaments in the 2011 calendar year.
On the local level, the All Jamaica Junior and Senior Championships are held annually toward the end of September. In addition, 2 school leagues—one junior one senior—are currently sponsored by the LIME communications company (Cable and Wireless). A doubles competition is also held annually at the Y.M.C.A.
Each year the country fields a team in the Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation (CAREBACO) Championships, the first two of which were won by Jamaica.
The national team is comprised of 8 seniors (currently 5 female, 3 male) and 15 juniors (9 female, 6 male).
