Analysis of Voter Turnout – 2011 and 2007 Elections

The table shows the change in voter turnout for the PNP and the JLP in the 2011 election compared to the 2007 election and the 2007 election compared to the 2002 election. Where voter turnout decreased, the number is highlighted in yellow. The table is sorted in alphabetical order by constituency name.

The table also shows the vote margin for the 2011, 2007 and 2002 elections, highlighted in the colour of the winning party for each constituency.

2011 Election

The PNP won this election, 42-21.

For the PNP

  • An overall increase in voter turnout of 58,771 as compared to the election in 2007.
  • 10 seats showed a decrease in PNP voter turnout
  • 50 seats showed an increase in PNP voter turnout
  • By constituency, the change in voter turnout ranged from -5,387 to +2,153

For the JLP

  • An overall decline in voter turnout of 4,518 as compared to the election of 2007
  • 39 seats showed a decrease in JLP voter turnout as compared to the election of 2007
  • 21 seats showed an increase in JLP voter turnout as compared to the election of 2007
  • By constituency, the change in voter turnout ranged from -2,335 to +1,729

2007 Election

The JLP won this election, 33-27.

For the JLP

  • An overall increase in voter turnout of 49,970 as compared to the election in 2002
  • 5 seats showed a decrease in JLP voter turnout as compared to the election of 2002
  • 55 seats showed an increase in JLP voter turnout as compared to the election of 2002
  • By constituency, the change in voter turnout ranged from -2,172 to +2,326

For the PNP

  • An overall increase in voter turnout of 8,922 as compared to the election in 2002
  • 23 seats showed a decrease in PNP voter turnout as compared to the election of 2002
  • 37 seats showed an increase in PNP voter turnout as compared to the election of 2002
  • By constituency, the change in voter turnout ranged from -3,911 to +1,663
