Jamaican citizens require a visa for every entry to the United Kingdom (UK). If an applicant fulfils the Transit Without Visa (TWOV) criteria they may choose to travel without a visa when transiting the UK. However, there is no guarantee that they will be granted entry upon arrival in the UK and so it is recommended that they obtain the appropriate visa before travelling.
The majority of applications are now only considered on paper based on the documents provided by the applicant and the customer will not be interviewed. The British High Commission realises that customers’ circumstances are different. Because of this, customers must submit as much evidence as they can of their personal circumstances. This includes employment, studies, financial circumstances, any assets, details of travel outside Jamaica, details of family members in Jamaica and overseas. If someone else is paying for the trip, or sponsoring the customer in another way, there should be evidence relating to that person too. The absence of important documentary evidence of previous travel by means of a previous passport (if applicable) and comprehensive supporting documents, may result in the application not being successful. For additional information about the documents you will need for your application, please visit the Worldbridge website. You should not make you application or appointment until you have all your documents together.
