1. Woman stabbed, attacker among two shot
A woman is now hospitalised after she was injured in a dramatic attack a party at the Grand Bahia Principe Hotel in St Ann last night. The police report that about midnight, the woman was stabbed in both legs and hands by a man said to be her ex-boyfriend. See full story on The Gleaner’s website.
2. Private numbers exposed
The full scale has not been revealed, but telecommunications company FLOW is scrambling to explain to perhaps hundreds of customers why their telephone numbers and other data that have been private, in some cases for almost a quarter of a century, have been released in the 2017 Yellow Pages telephone directory. 3. Hope for UTech
Two former education ministers have welcomed with open arms, the appointment of Professor Stephen Vasciannie as president of the University of Technology (UTech), Jamaica. Vasciannie, a former principal of the Norman Manley Law School, will take up duties on January 2, 2017, filling the position that has been vacant for almost four years. Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton is to host a town hall meeting tomorrow amid lingering concerns about plans to develop the old Cholera Cemetery lands in St Andrew. There were many protesters but few faithless electors as Donald Trump won the Electoral College vote Monday — ensuring he will become America’s 45th president.
