2. Pastor arrested, charged for rape, sex with minor
Kenneth Blake, 52, pastor of the Harvest Temple Apostolic Church, located on Slipe Pen Road, was this morning arrested and charged with rape, forcible abduction, grievous sexual assault, sexual touching and sexual intercourse with a person under 16 years old. 3. JPS to spend millions on network upgrade
Thousands of Jamaica Public Service (JPS) customers in St Andrew, Trelawny and St Ann will be among the first to benefit from a US$3.4-million upgrade to the company’s power delivery system, stated Blaine Jarrett, vice-president for engineering. See full story on The Gleaner’s website.
4. WataLand fined for operating without environmental permit
The operators of the WataLand attraction in St Mary have been fined $20,000 for operating an Eco Tourism Facility without an environmental permit. Dancorp Limited was fined after pleaded guilty to breaching the Natural Resources Conservation Authority Act (NRCA) in the St Mary Parish Court. See full story on The Gleaner’s website.
5. Controversial Miss Ja World finalist staying put
Despite being faced with a tsunami of opposition to her inclusion in this year’s Miss Jamaica World pageant, Shaneke Williams, says she is pressing ahead in the competition. Williams, who is among the 16 finalists announced for this year’s pageant, says she has been on the receiving end of cyber-bulling and hatred, due to the fact that she was arrested for a serious crime in 2015. 6. Three teen males in police custody for robbery
Three Kingston teens believed to be involved in several robberies have been taken into custody by the police. In posts on its Twitter account today, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said the male teens are aged 13, 14 and 15 years. See full story on The Gleaner’s website.
