1. $150m port expansion project to boost competitiveness
A hefty US$150 million has been earmarked by Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL) to significantly boost the container capacity at the port and to increase the maximum boat size able to access Port Bustamante by way of deepening the channel and bay through dredging. 5. NIS contributors to pay more
Contributors to the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) will in the 2018-19 fiscal year be required to contribute more to the scheme. Currently, the contribution rate for NIS is 2.5 per cent by employees, which is matched by a similar contribution by employers. See full story on The Gleaner’s website.
