30 Days of Inspiration : Live in Love

March is celebrated as Spiritual Wellness Month. It is a time to reflect on the values, ethics and morals that add value and give meaning to your life. Here at diGJamaica, we’re going on a quest for 30 days of inspiration: extracting the common principles from different religions and systems of belief that help their followers to find inner peace, purpose and direction. Each day for the month of March, we will be sharing another principle with you. Join us as we embark on this journey to spiritual wellness.

Live in Love

Love has come to mean so many different things for different people. For today’s focus, we want to return to love in its purest form: unassuming, simple, unconditional affection and acceptance of another person. It’s the kind of love most mothers feel for their children: a constant, unfailing desire to see them flourish and do well, regardless of their flaws and faults. Can you learn to love all people like that? Would you dare give that kind of unselfish care to someone who may not even deserve it?

Spiritual wellness springs from a balanced heart and mind. The heart is the organ of life, and of love. To keep it healthy, we must practise living in love. This includes learning to understand and appreciate the many differences that exist among us. Love is more than tolerance. It is understanding that while we may be different, we all deserve respect and kindness. Here are some qualities of a love-filled life:

  • Respect for differences
  • Acts of kindness
  • Service to others
  • Selflessness
  • Empathy
  • Genuine concern for others’ well-being
  • Outrage over the suffering/injustices done to others
  • Fearlessness
  • Thoughtfulness
  • Speaking well of others
  • Celebrating others
