Sometimes controversial, but always topical, The Gleaner has been blessed with the talents of cartoonists Urban S Leandro and Lascelles 'Las' May.

Over the course of 48 years, Leandro, who was born in Trinidad and Tobago to Guyanese parents but called Jamaica home, produced some of the most witty and delightful social commentaries Jamaica has ever seen. He was a firm believer in fixing the social ills within the society in order to achieve progress. Click on the image below to see a selection of his Gleaner cartoons.

Las May has been a cartoonist with The Gleaner Company since 1989 and has won four Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) awards. He got his big break by submitting a comic strip to the company, which was published in The StarClick on the image below to view more of Las May's Gleaner cartoons.
